Mengying Peng (彭梦莹)

I am a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor at the Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), Hitotsubashi University, in Tokyo, Japan, where I also received my Ph.D. in Economics. I am additionally a part-time lecturer at Tsuda University.

My research is in applied microeconomics, with a focus on development economics and the economics of education. I study human capital formation, the evaluation of education policies, and inequalities in educational access and outcomes across gender, ethnicity, race, and socioeconomic background — primarily in China, with related work on India and the United States.
